Our Regular Events

Maths Café

Every Wednesday, 1-2pm
Maths UG Workroom

Every week, our Academic Support Officers, run a help café in the Undergraduate Workroom, in which anyone can feel free to come down with any problems they may be having with assignments and the like. There will also be a free buffet of bread, dips, crisps, drinks, etc. that anyone attending can enjoy.

Coffee and Cake Break

Weekly

Every week, our Equal Opportnities Officer runs a coffee afternoon to celebrate diversity in maths. Anyone can come down to enjoy free tea, coffee, and biscuits provided. Some coffee mornings may also feature a guest speaker, so stay alert to see what goes on each week.

Academic Talks

Every Tuesday, 6pm-7pm

In order to provide insight into mathematics that isn’t regularly introduced in the standard degree course, the society organises weekly talks provided by various guest speakers. Feel free to come along and broaden your horizons, and also help yourself to free pizza provided.

Circling

Throughout the Year

Several times each term, our Social Secretaries run their Circles, which for those unfamiliar with Warwick’s traditions, are sessions of fun and engaging drinking games in preparation for an enjoyable night out at POP or elsewhere. It’s definitely worth giving a try.

Board Games Night

Twice a term
Maths UG Workroom

As one of our key non-alcohol events, Board Games Night gives students the opportunity to put aside their assignments for a night and unwind with some great classics. Come down to play some games and indulge in the free pizza provided.

Revision Lectures

Term 3

To aid with the stress of revision, our Academic Events Officer organises lecturers and students to run revision lectures for a good range of maths modules in preparation for exams. These should be very helpful in consolidating your knowledge on each module, especially as most lectures cover individual problems that students are confused about.

Ada Lovelace Day

Term 1 Week 3
MS.02 and The Street

A celebration of Women in Maths and a great chance to see some of the research being done by female mathematicians and some of the real world applications of maths! There will be free food, tea and coffee, so look out for posters and emails for more information.

Integrating Factor

Term 1 Week 2
Maths Common Room

In order to “integrate” new students into the society, Integrating Factor provides food and drink (both alcoholic and not) as well as an opportunity for both new students and returning students to get to know the members and exec of WMS.

Maths Ball

Term 2 Week 1

The annual Maths Ball gives students the opportunity to dress their best and join the society for a wonderful night that features a 3 course meal, a disco stage with DJ, and the company of all your friends in the society. One fine night you wouldn’t want to miss.

Maths Tours

Term 2 Week 10

Each year, Maths Tour gives students the opportunity to take an action-packed city break at a prime location chosen by the society. With the potential for sightseeing, guided tours and nightlife, it is the ultimate break from difficult assignments.

Summer Barbecue

Term 3 Week 9
Claycroft Fields

Taking place after exams, the annual Summer BBQ is the perfect place to celebrate finishing the year and take advantage of the lovely weather (fingers crossed). Come along to enjoy mountains of free food and drink, and perhaps try your hand at some rounders or football?
